“Whistler needs ~5,600 more homes over 20 years.” Interim Housing Needs Report: 1,572 homes in 5 years; 5,639 in 20 years. - Whistler.ca
WARU is a grassroots, non‑partisan renter advocacy group in Whistler. We organize tenants, seasonal workers, families and seniors to: (1) protect tenant rights, (2) expand secure, year‑round housing, and (3) make municipal policy center real renter experiences.
Track local housing bylaws, council votes and rezoning files.
Help renters navigate problems (repairs, deposits, “no pet” policies, illegal evictions) by pointing to official resources.
Campaign for rezoning where it makes sense. Actively look for illegal Airbnbs that ignore residential zoning and report them.
Turn stories into action at Council and the Whistler Housing Authority (WHA).
