“Whistler needs ~5,600 more homes over 20 years.” Interim Housing Needs Report: 1,572 homes in 5 years; 5,639 in 20 years. - Whistler.ca
WARU is a grassroots, non‑partisan renter advocacy group in Whistler. We organize tenants, seasonal workers, families and seniors to: (1) protect tenant rights, (2) expand secure, year‑round housing, and (3) make municipal policy center real renter experiences.
Track local housing bylaws and rezoning files.
Help renters navigate problems (repairs, deposits, “no pet” policies, illegal evictions) by pointing to official resources.
Turn stories into action at Council and the Whistler Housing Authority (WHA).
Run campaigns on concrete fixes: better enforcement, more purpose‑built rentals, and fair treatment in employer housing.
